Missing man’s body found in Brazos River

Updated: 07.25.08
Authorities recovered from the Brazos River Thursday the body of James Pohlmann, a 51-year-old man, reported missing July 22.

Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office wrote in a statement that Pohlmann, a Needville resident, was reported missing by his wife Tuesday after he left their home between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. without her knowledge.

According to the release, the family was concerned “due to the fact that Mr. Pohlmann suffered from depression.”

Authorities found Pohlmann’s maroon 4-door 1993 Mercury Sable in Richmond, abandoned near the Brazos River and U.S. 90 Wednesday morning.

Detectives and the Richmond Fire Department searched the river two days. They found the body approximately one mile southwest of the railroad trestle.

Galveston County Medical Examiners Office will conduct an autopsy investigation late Friday.
