Police say a family argument led to the Tuesday night stabbing of a 22-year-old Splendora man by his aunt. Dena Marie Rogers, 31, of Splendora was arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder in the death of Jeffrey Orlin Rogers.

Jeffrey Rogers was transported by Montgomery County EMS ground ambulance from Pin Oak Drive in Splendora to Kingwood Regional Medical Center with CPR in progress due to multiple stab wounds. He was later pronounced dead and inquest was conducted by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts, who ordered the body transported by Metcalf Funeral Directors to the Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Conroe for autopsy.

MCSO Lt. Bill Bucks said alcohol was involved in the incident and drugs were suspected. Three children were on the scene at the time of the stabbing. They ranged in age from two years old to about eight years old and belonged to Dena Rogers, Bucks said.

No bond was set for Dena Rogers as of Wednesday afternoon.

" Phew - that's some tough-lookin' 31 year old woman (all city mileage, no doubt) "

" Superficial idiot comments - no one is looking for sympathy or criticism. Both of you need to try out for last comic and get a life. You both are as lost as the individual subjects in this article. You are SICK!!Montgomery County is rife with drug and alcohol addictions. Sadly too many. Even if we look at the arrest records you see repeat offenders don't have to answer for what they are doing and all the lives they impact, much less their own. Don't you get it? You are now paying for housing/feeding these people and transporting the body to the morgue because you can't possibly believe these people have the money. Shallow.Stupid.Insecure. That is what you are. "

" CherokeeToo, you're comment makes no sense to me. You are berating the two people that made remarks about the lady as though they contributed to the crime. She does look very old for her age and that is probably attributed to alcohol and drug use. What do you suppose we should all do? I think it's just sad that she has 3 small children that probably witnessed the incident and now their mother will spend the rest of her life in jail. What will happen to those poor children? Sadly, the cycle will probably continue. Are you willing to help this dysfunctional family out? I didn't think so. "

" Whiskyecho often calls it right, and often makes someone angry for doing so. Can't fault him for speaking his mind. Especially seeing a majority of readers may privately agree. What I saw when I read this article was a sad, attractive, young woman who threw it all away due to a life of drugs and alcohol, or as I call it "sin". I felt there was an aged look to her too. That is evident. But what about the children? That is the bigger more important question now. And the family will want answers and need prayers over the tradegy of murder, due to a close family member.

CherokeeToo made a good point about repeat offenders not answering for crimes, and the effect they have on society and the family around them. (But I would skip the name calling.) Would like to see an article on this topic, rather than "a Montgomery man owns a fix it shop" (news today). The Courier is weak when it come to reporting on crime by their own officials, in my opinion. "

" It is just amazing to me that people would comment on people they didn't know but then again that is what the world has come down to. I had to think a while before I left my comment. I wanted to try and put myself in this families shoes and think of how I might react to my sister killing my son and my aunt murdering my brother. I am a cousin to this family and I am positive it was not intentional. I remember when Jefferey was born how much Dena loved him. She did make bad choices in life and they probably stemmed from a childhood of acohol but then again I came from a family that had an acoholic father. I live in another part of the world from this though. I have never done drugs and only drank at social gatherings and now I don't drink even there. I lost my younger brother to an accident that involved a person drinking and driving. Dena's father died an acohol related death and her sweet mom died of cancer in the recent years so maybe instead of condeming maybe we could offer lots of prayer and maybe even a suggestion to the family of an out to save the children left behind. I live in the DFW area but would be willing to do what I could to help and not judge this family. Please remember when making comments that you might have to wear those shoes sometimes. She looks older because she has lived with much disappointment and so much sadness. Please be kind. I love her and I also love Jefferey and his mom also. Jefferey's mom is the sweetest woman anyone will ever hope to meet and I love her so much and the pain she must be feeling is unthinkable. I have 7 children and 5 grandchildren and I can't even imagine giving even one of those up. God is great and will see this family through this nightmare. Hugs to this family and I will hopefully see them during my vacation soon. "
