Chamber readying for Salute to Education

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to for the start of the new school year and is seeking help from the community.
The annual Salute to Education is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. The event is a way to welcome all new educators coming into the Deer Park Independent School District. Also at the event, teachers of the year are also honored.
There will be 26 booths available for businesses to help welcome the new teachers. However, at last count, there are just nine left to be rented.
The cost for renting a booth is $125 (drapery included). Booths will open at 10 a.m., teachers are scheduled to arrive at 11 a.m. and the program will begin at noon. Booths may be dismantled following the program at 2 p.m.
Lunch tickets are also available for $18 per person. People may also sponsor a teacher’s lunch for $18.
The Salute of Education will be held at the Deer Park High School-North Campus, 402 Ivy St.
