Orchestra invited to Carnegie Hall
The Clear Lake High School Orchestra has been invited to perform at New York City's prestigious Carnegie Hall in April 2006 - one of only four high school orchestras invited.

The invitation comes on the heels of the school's music department being recognized by the Grammy Foundation as a Grammy Signature School for 2005 - one of only 30 high school music programs from over 20,000 applicants from across the country.
Lake was named a Signature School based on outstanding achievements and quality of ensembles in the orchestra, band and choir departments.
The 120-member orchestra at Lake, led by Bryan Buffaloe and Kevin Black, have consistently earned superior ratings at UIL contests, as well as Best in Class honors at many festivals around the country.
The Lake program continues to be ranked among the Top 10 orchestra programs in the state by the Texas Music Educator's Association and regularly receives invitations to perform in invitational festivals and conventions at the national level.
"This is an honor we cannot turn down," Black and Buffaloe said Friday, adding that several benefits are planned throughout the year to fund the trip.
Orchestra members have been selling discount cards for local restaurants for $10 each and on Sept. 15, they will begin the annual catalogue sale of assorted coffees and baked goods.
Another fundraiser will come Saturday, Sept. 17, when the musicians stage a car wash.
